RECOGNITIONS:
Janet Cunningham Is PSU's Engineering Commencement Speaker
Janet Cunningham graduated from Penn State University’s College of Engineering in 1980 with a Civil Engineering degree. On May 18, 2007 Janet returned for graduation as the College of Engineering’s commencement speaker. She accepted the honor and opportunity, describing it as “one of the highlights of my life.” Her speech titled “Accept the Challenge” urged the 771 graduates to embrace the unexpected and unplanned opportunities in life. She encouraged them to take risks and reach outside their comfort zone. She stressed the importance of a positive attitude, taking responsibility and finding a mentor (and ultimately being a mentor to those who follow). She assured the new grads that through patience, respect for others, hard work and seeking balance in their lives, they could truly “have it all”.
Quarterly Excellence Award Given to True Team Leader on Philadelphia School District Project
Anmarie Lehman's dedication to project excellence was not left unnoticed by fellow Gilbane team construction members when she took over construction project management oversight of the George Washington High School Renovation project three (3) months after start of construction. Anmarie came in as the outsider but quickly established the necessary relationships, an in-depth understanding of scope and her role as Project Manager. Her exemplary skills in organization, communication and scheduling served the project team well. Anmarie has become the first ever non-Gilbane employee to receive their company's Quarterly Excellence Award for extraordinary effort by an employee. Congratulations on a job well done!
